As usual, I sauntered down to the comment section to read the reactions of other readers. It was not surprising to find detractors there given the nature of the article. What always amazes me, however, is how they go about their disagreements. For the most part, it was a litany of ad hominems attacking the author of the article.

While that may convince some, I doubt it does as much good as preventing facts to the contrary - a rarity within the pithy comment section. I even went as far as linking to one of the rebuttals to see what kind of case could be made. While there was some interesting counterpoints to Mr. Kenny's article, most of it was abusive towards the man rather than his arguments, which left me with little in the way of being convinced otherwise.

The most laughable distinction was when any of the attackers would tout renewable energy as "profitable". This shows that they may have knowledge about climates but they lack a rudimentary understanding of economics since renewable energies are promoted, mandated, and subsidized by the state; making it impossible for a profit mechanism to manifest itself. The same could be said for more conventional forms of power, too, since most utilities enjoy favoritism by the state. Maybe renewable energies are profitable, but the claim can not be made under current circumstances.
