For the last couple of weeks (maybe a month or so), I’ve been having sporadic problems with our internet connection. My husband’s computer, which is “hardwired” didn’t seem to have any problems, but mine (which is connected to our home network wirelessly) would work for a while, and then disconnect without any apparent reason. I’d go down to the basement, reset our modem and router, and it’d be up and running again. Until yesterday…
Yesterday, it would be up for about 30 seconds, and then would disconnect me from the internet. Coincidentally (maybe) it happened to be occurring when I was trying to download some music from iTunes, so I thought perhaps I was somehow “overloading” the capacity of the router (really shouldn’t have been the case, though, since the router was only a couple of years old). Then I wondered whether it was related to the wireless card in my computer, so I pulled out my netbook and connected—but alas, that got disconnected in short order, as well.
I ran out to WalMart this morning after dropping the kids off at school, and picked up a new wireless router. These things are becoming incredibly simple to set up—the router was basically “plug and play” for me, and within 15 minutes of having everything plugged in and the software installed, I was up and running again. Hopefully, that will be the last of my technology problems for a while.
