Brownback's video shows him doing things like riding tractors and eating barbeque. And now we have a picture history of his life. He is "America's most consistent conservative." He's emphasizing that he's "pro-life and whole-life" in his campaign video. He hasn't even taken the stage yet. His video seems a lot longer than the others... "Marriage is the union of a man and a woman, and we should fight for that." He believes in the right to bear arms. He supports building a fence... seriously, is Brownback even going to speak, or just show his video? He agrees with the War in Iraq, and does not want to "cut and run." He's for privatized social security. He's from a farm state. I guess he's not giving a speech, just showing this inspirational video.
Oh, ok, he's here now. Finally.
He's going right through Iowa, he's not skipping it. "The future of America is built on principles, not on personalities."
"Yesterday I was at the field of dreams in Iowa. And I have a dream that the son of a Kansas farmer becomes president of the United States."
"I believe that every person at every stage is a beautiful, unique, child of a loving God. Period." I think he's going to talk about abortion for a while. "We're willing to fight for every life everywhere because we are pro-life and whole-life."
"I am pro-growth." (He's talking about the economy, not a tumor.) He thinks we're "taxed to the max." Nice little catch phrase. He supports an "optional flat tax."
Here comes the pro-family segment. Sam says "the best place to raise a child is between a mom and dad bonded together for life. We know this from all the social data, and we also know it in our hearts." Having stronger families will fix every problem in America, from crime to education to poverty. "As president, I will rebuild the modern family." It's a nice idea, but I'm not sure how he's going to accomplish it.
He's against setting a timetable for leaving Iraq. He wants to set up a Sunni state, a Shi'ite state, and a Kurdish state with Baghdad as the federal capital.
"We need to encourage faith, not litigate it out of existence." Apparently he met Mother Theresa once. She looked him in the eye and said "All for Jesus" four times.
He wants to appoint a justice on the Supreme Court that will be the fifth vote we need to overturn Roe v. Wade.
And, he's done. Cue the honky-tonk country music.
