I realize that this is not something to get too worked up about, but the just completed Pajamas Media straw poll showed Ron Paul with 43.0%, followed by Fred Thompson with 33.9% (my math suggests the difference between the two is 9.1 points). Giuliani got 6.1%; Romney managed 5.7%, and everyone else received less than 3% each. And how does Pajamas Media describe Ron Paul's showing (after having been excluded for several weeks)?
Ron Paul nosed past Fred Thompson in the last week’s Pajamas Poll on the Republican side. So far Paul has shown himself to be an Internet-only phenomenon, not registering above two percent in any national polls and usually less. Richardson continues to lead Dems.
That's a huge "nose" that Ron Paul has.
The next question is this: what is Pajamas Media going to do now that the "new" (as Brad says "totally useless") Gallup Poll has been released? It includes Giuliani, F. Thompson, McCain, Romney, and Newt Gingrich in its reporting, and leaves roughly 20% of the responses completely unaccounted for (presumably the "second tier" candidates make up those numbers, but we don't know how they ranked--or if they were even asked). I suspect that the Pajamas Media folks are going to have a bit of a problem next week unless they are able to get "the rest of the story" on the Gallup poll and determine where the "second tier" guys really are. Otherwise, based just on the info that was published, by their own standards, I guess they'll have to leave out last week's number one finisher (Paul) and number 5 finisher (Tancredo); and include only numbers 2, 3, 4, 6 and 9 (F. Thompson, Giuliani, Romney, Gingrich and McCain).
This is, of course a survey, that means almost nothing from a real scientific polling perspective. Still, click over on the icon on the left (Pajamas Media), and vote in this precinct (if you haven't voted yet) for Ron Paul--just to spite them!
